Flatten rice is rice which is flat, light, dry flake from the Indian subcontinent. The rice is parbaled before the chapatis are cooked so that it can be eaten without cooking very little. The rice flour is swollen as it is added to the hot or cold liquid due to the absorption of water or milk or any other liquid. The thickness of the flake is about four times as thin as a typical rice grain in the rough (more expensive type). It is also called “beaten rice, Chira” and “to avoid confusion about the chick, this dish is prepared using Flat rice as the main ingredient of the mid-west Indian diet.

The Flatten rice can be fried in plain water or milk, flavoured with salt and sugar or with almonds, raisins, elachi and other spices.
